DECODOM, spol. s r. o.

DECODOM, spol. s r. o. is the largest furniture manufacturer in Slovakia. The company was founded in 1999 and currently employs more than 1260 employees. It is exclusively in Slovak ownership and has no foreign investors. The production plant is located in Topoľčany and the factory has an area of 13.5 ha. Since 2005, the logistics warehouse and the House of Furniture with an area of 6000 m2 is located on the outskirts of Topoľčany (part of Krušovce), an area of 14,500 m2. It offers a complete range of DECODOM products as well as other products from other manufacturers of furniture, household appliances and home accessories. The history of the company dates back to 1911, when the Austrian entrepreneur Adolf Schmidt decided to use the forests of Topoľčany and established a steam sawmill to process solid wood. They then started to manufacture high quality flooring and tie rods in Topoľčany.

Previous state

Prior to cooperation with Slovanet, the company DECODOM was a customer of a competing internet service provider, which provided the company standard data and voice services without added value. The following factors have led them to consider switching telecommunication service providers:

  • cost optimization for Telco/IT services,
  • modernization of technologies,
  • partner flexibility to implement new solutions,
  • emerging weaknesses in the area of problem-solving efficiency on data or voice infrastructure.

In addition to the migration of telecommunications services, the customer also decided to move their IT environment to the Slovanet’s cloud. When choosing a new supplier of such services, DECODOM also considered a local solution – the purchase of HW and its location on the company’s premises. The furniture manufacturer acknowledges that the original state of the physical infrastructure involved a large number of equipment and was unsatisfactory – the management of the environment was complicated and confusing. At the same time, this situation did not meet the IT standards of a large company such as DECODOM. Its Technical Director Ing. Ľubomír Chochula explains that they decided to move to Slovanet’s cloud environment because of the distribution of solution costs, security and management of the environment, as well as to eliminate the need to invest in local HW.

Cooperation

The cooperation between the companies DECODOM, spol. s r.o. and Slovanet started in 2009 by connecting the first retail store in Púchov. The delivered solution also included voice and mail communication services, information security, videoconferencing, cloud services and domain services. Gradually, a single virtual private network was established for the connections of individual branches. It allowed easier and more secure internal communication and link-up of information systems.

Increase of sales

Slovanet implemented individual components of DECODOM’s technical solutions based on regular communication with the Client and the work of the pre-sale department. There has been long term active communication with company representatives to avoid misunderstandings about company requirements that have not been “accurately translated into the language of IT”. After successful consultations, the most appropriate solution was always chosen based on experience and references, as well as based on the active approach of Slovanet. “Slovanet tried to flexibly respond to our changing requirements during implementation,” says Ing. Ľubomír Chochula, Technical Director DECODOM spol. s.r.o, and adds: “The cloud platform from Slovanet has been tested by us in a pilot project in relation to storage server solutions and at a later time, for the virtualization of other services.” As to the main benefits of cooperation he continues “With the Slovanet’s e-shop, we have opened another successful sales channel and increased revenue from direct sales of our products.
